Today, let’s remember Allen Newell, who was born on this day in 1927. Newell received the #ACMTuringAward in 1975 with co-recipient Herbert A. Simon for making basic contributions to artificial intelligence, the psychology of human cognition, and list processing. Here, he describes his sudden realization (in 1957) of the potential of the computer as a model of human thought, which resulted in the creation of the Logic Theorist and General Problem Solver programs. #computerscience #AI #artificial
